I saw this idea on YouTube and knew I had to try it. It's so much easier because the tire keeps the logs from falling over while you chop, and they don't tend to go flying.
I like to place the tire in an area that's higher than where I'm standing. If that's a possibility, it's a lot easier on the back.
A sweet bonus is finding a nice pile of chips underneath the newly chopped kindling.
These things are very important here in north Idaho. :) I love my red axe.
